Rockin and Rolling
This concert was highly anticipated by my family and me, as we purchased tickets in December as Christmas gifts for the kids. Friends and other family members were often unimpressed, commenting, "god, how old are those guys? REO? They don’t have that many good songs."
I was astonished, thinking that these same folks hadn't gone to a rodeo, county fair, country, or rock jam in 30 years. Night of the show, our people were buzzing around Ball Arwna, psyched to hear all 3 bands and rock the night away.
Loverboy took the stage first, getting everyone dancing and singing, so we'd be in good shape for the rest of the night. REO came on next and rocked us all with our favorite songs. These "old" guys have more energy than most 20-something’s and can play their instruments vigorously until the wee hours of the morning.
The Black Crowes started building their set while we caught our breath. We were mesmerized by the crew building a giant catwalk, and a drum kit was brought on stage by a forklift. What a thing of beauty that drum kit was! Once the lights blasted the crowd, it was one lick and beat after another. Tommy Shaw is amazing! The band members came out in Avalanche Jerseys and rocked us off the stage, leaving the crowd in a frenzy. It was a night shared with our 30-something-year-old kids, and we all enjoyed it immensely. Thank you to Loverboy, REO, and The Black Crowes for a great concert with legendary bands, amazing music, and our hearts were full. We will be talking about this for a long time.
